How to get more Twitter followers

Organically growing your followers on Twitter has become a bit more difficult over the years, but it’s still the easiest social media platform to market yourself or your brand.  Why has it more difficult? Well, because during the early days of Twitter you could follow an unlimited amount of people and a certain percentage of those would follow you back (This strategy is called churning or churn).  These days, Twitter now limits you to 400 follows per day and will temporarily stop you well before you hit the 400 daily cap. However, this same strategy still works and combined with the other tips I’m going to provide you’ll be Twitter famous in no time.

Churning More Twitter Followers

As I mentioned above, you can gain more followers easily by simply following a bunch of people because some of them will follow you back despite having any idea of what you’re Twitter content is all about.  However, this isn’t all that helpful. For example, if your primary topic is politics and you want to use your account to funnel users onto your political blog, it isn’t very useful to have a bunch of followers that aren’t part of your ideology.

Growing followers with your particular interests

Remember to be interactive and tweet frequently

Some people tweet or reply 40+ times per day, but that isn’t necessary. I’d recommend though that you at least make 3 tweets per day.

Interacting with others will entice them to retweet & like your tweets. Also, Twitter favors showing people tweets from people they’ve interacted with before. After a while you’ll build up a cult following of people that frequently engage with your posts.

Lastly, whenever you like or retweet someones post they get a notification. A solid tactic to get your username in front of more eyeballs is to look at the comments under a hashtag and like or retweet interesting posts under that tag.
